The Forney High School and North Forney High School varsity golf teams competed in the 4th Annual Pinkout Classic this Wednesday and Thursday at Firewheel Old Golf Course in Garland. This a combined effort from both programs to host a great high school golf tournament that also has a component of raising awareness to breast cancer as well as raising money for Susan G. Komen foundation.
The boys varsity teams competed on Wednesday. FHS finished 3rd out of 15 teams. The Jackrabbits were led by Junior Justin Morris with a score of 75 good for 4th place overall in the event. Senior Zane Syjansky shot 83 for a 9th place medal. Other notables were Senior Luke Preston, Sophomore Austin George, and Junior Vincent Coronado. The Falcons finished 9th place overall in the boys division. They were led by Blake Quintana who improved his score by 10 shots from last tournament. Other notables were Connor Fredrick, Hunter Kasper, Austin Weaver, and Reece Wagenfuehr.
The girls varsity teams competed on Thursday. The Falcons Kara Kurtz finished 12th overall in 70 player field. Caleigh Meldrum finished 17th overall in the event. The Jackrabbits team finished 7th overall in the girls division. Senior Camryn Teer placed 15th, Junior Hannah Preston finished 17th, other notables were Junior Avery Fahey, Sophomores Lilli Wehmeyer, and Chloe Crane.
Special recognition goes to Michael and Kristi Quintana, Kimberly and Michael Kurtz, 4 C’s Trophies, Teresa Boardman and Firewheel Staff, FHS and NFHS parents that came to support, INTEX, City Bank, Coach Falloure, Coach Holloway, Coach Mankins, and Coach Syjansky
