The season opener for the 2019 Freshmen Black team was a sight to see as they trounced Richardson Berkner 57-6. The Jackrabbits were on fire from the first snap as Ronnie Harrison Jr caught a 70 yard touchdown pass from Kyle Bricker. Harrison Jr. went up top to grab his second touchdown catch of the day from Jason Craig with four seconds left before halftime. The offense continued to pour on a bevy of scores as Malachi Eafon rushed for 3 touchdowns followed by Alexander Chukwukelu and Tyler Pruitt each seeing the end zone for a score. The defense was unforgiving as they held the Rams to less than 150 yards of total offense on the day. The Jackrabbits caused four fumbles and recovered three of them to set the offense up for an easy scores. With their backs against the wall, Tyler Pruitt sacked the Rams quarterback in the 3rd quarter for a safety. Linebacker Jase Mayhall was a staple in the middle for the defense. Major McGill, Brandon Hill, Chayse Smith and William Wimberly maintained the secondary. The Freshmen Black will play Lindale at City Bank Stadium on Thursday, September 5 at 6 p.m.
