The Jackrabbits fell to the#1 team in 5A football Friday night. In typical 2020 and Friday the 13th style, it started unusual with the officials arriving 1 hour and 20 minutes late. They were given a standing ovation by the crowd!
There were some bright spots for the Jackrabbits. Cameron Newell drilled a 47 yard field goal to end the 1st half. Cameron has kicked well all year and will make someone a fine college kicker, if that is what he chooses to do. JR. Braden Merchant continued his fantastic punting this year with a 43 yard average. They both continue to be weapons for the Jackrabbits.
Defensively, JR. Josh Stephens led the team with 7 solo tackles. JR. Dylan Patrick had 3 solo, 1 for a loss, a recovered fumble and a QB sack. JR. Caden Cross added 2, FR. Aaron Flowers added 2 and JR. Josh Slater had 3 solo tackles.
Offensively, JR. Jon’Richard Washington had 85 yards on 20 carries. SO. Tyler Pruitt had the ‘Rabbits lone Touchdown. The war between Ennis’ defensive line and Forney’s offensive line was led by Adam Long, JR. Reece Mercer and Ivan Cook.
The Jackrabbits get to play at home (FINALLY) on 11-20 at 7:30 pm. The officials have been confirmed! They will face off with the Corsicana Tigers again in an 11-5A seed game. You can toss out any records in this one as it will be a tough, physical game. This could be the Srs. last game at City Bank Stadium (depends upon the selection of crossover games for 12-4), so get them fired up to play their best and put 4 quarters together this Friday night!
